Who We Are
MISSION / PHILOSOPHY
St. Catherine of Siena Parish School is a welcoming, Christ-centered community, rooted in the Catholic faith and inspired by Gospel values. As an extension of the parish and with Jesus as our model, we are dedicated to lifelong growth in faith, love, and learning.
We recognize that the care and education of the child begins with the family and that parents are the primary educators of their children. In partnership with parents, we work to promote our students’ achievement and spiritual growth. Together we are committed to developing responsible, ethical leaders who think critically, act justly, communicate effectively, and serve willingly.

VISION
We are committed to providing a faith-filled, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment for all our students. Through our rigorous academic programs, our students will gain the cognitive, technological, and social skills necessary to become ethical, innovative leaders who successfully navigate the complex challenges of today’s world.

History
Located in the Maple Leaf neighborhood of Northeast Seattle, St. Catherine School opened in 1941, just months before the United States entered World War II. Despite the trauma of the times, St. Catherine School found a firm foothold among Catholic families in Seattle’s north end. Sisters of Providence staffed the school for thirty-five years.

Accreditation
In 2019, St. Catherine School was awarded a full six-year accreditation term by the Western Catholic Education Association.

MAP SCORES (Standardized Testing)
Students at St. Catherine in 2nd-8th grades take the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test 2-3 times per year, depending on the subject. Teachers use data from MAP testing to plan instruction, offer differentiation, and assist students in goal setting. Reflective of our well rounded curriculum, dedicated teaching and support staff, and hard-working students, our students (blue bars) consistently score well above the national average (yellow bars) in all subject areas on the MAP test. The first graph shows that in their initial year of taking the MAP test, our second graders show incredible growth from Fall (blue bars)) to Spring (red bars) of their second grade year.
